The SECO 03084140 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding applications. Built to Series STR440.2 specifications, it features a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) mill diameter with a 0.0200 inch corner radius and four flutes with a variable helix geometry. AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection when cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and hard materials. The 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard toolholders. This is a single-end, centercutting tool capable of both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup.
This end mill is suited for precision CNC milling operations on stainless steel, titanium, nickel-based superalloys, and other hard or exotic alloys where tool wear and thermal load are primary concerns. The short-length-of-cut geometry (7/16 inch LOC) combined with the high-helix flute design improves chip evacuation and reduces deflection in tight-tolerance features such as pockets, slots, and profiled walls. Machinists running horizontal or vertical machining centers will find the 2-1/2 inch overall length appropriate for most standard setups without extended reach adapters.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per material codes M, S, and H. Part of the SECO STR440.2 series.
This tool is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and undamaged before seating the shank. Confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the rated length of cut (7/16 inch) to avoid overloading the flutes or inducing deflection.
