The SECO 03084020 is a solid micrograin carbide square end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. It features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter with four right-hand spiral flutes and a 30-degree variable helix angle that reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation across a range of cutting conditions. With a 15/16-inch length of cut and AlTiN coating, this tool is built for demanding milling operations where tool life and surface finish consistency matter. It is a single-end, straight-shank tool in the STS430.2 series, suitable for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by skilled machinists and toolroom professionals.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel and cast iron as well as aluminum and other non-ferrous workpieces. The long-length geometry provides added reach for deeper pocket work and stepped profiles where a standard-length end mill cannot clear the workpiece. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance at the cutting edge, making it appropriate for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting strategies in production and job-shop environments. It is a single-end tool, so once the cutting end is worn, the tool is replaced rather than flipped.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals per material codes P, K, and N. Part of the SECO STS430.2 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the straight shank in a collet or end mill holder with adequate grip length to minimize runout — maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Verify tool projection and clearance before beginning a cut, and confirm the holder is rated for the intended cutting speed and feed.
