The SECO 03083826 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and four flutes arranged in a variable-helix spiral configuration. The variable helix geometry reduces harmonic vibration and improves chip evacuation during both roughing and finishing passes. The micrograin carbide substrate is finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. This tool is part of the SECO STB440.2 series and is suited for machinists working in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC milling centers and manual mills where precision profiling, contouring, and slotting in hard or exotic workpiece materials is required. Its short length type and straight-cylindrical shank make it a practical choice for setups requiring rigidity and minimal overhang. Primary target materials are ISO M (stainless steel), ISO S (superalloys and titanium), and ISO H (hardened materials). The single-end configuration and right-hand cutting and flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling operations.

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank in a precision collet chuck or end mill holder rated for the shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are clean and free of runout-inducing debris before seating the tool. Confirm TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inches at setup to maintain dimensional accuracy and edge life.
