The SECO 03083778 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the STR440.2 series platform, it features a 3/4 inch diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. At 4 inches overall length with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, this single-end, centercutting tool handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. It is sized for use with standard 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical toolholders.
This end mill is engineered for cutting stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials where edge integrity and coating durability are critical. The micrograin carbide substrate supports the cutting forces common in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments. It is suited for vertical machining centers and horizontal mills running in right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute spiral. The short-reach geometry and normal pitch make it a practical choice for slot milling, profiling, and contour finishing on difficult workpieces.
Designed for use with standard 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes M, S, and H).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before cutting. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for collet nuts or set screws, and confirm cutting parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine horsepower before engaging the cut.
