The SECO 03080779 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill from the SECO PerfoMAX series, designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and machining environments. The drill body accepts two indexable inserts — compatible styles include SCGX and SPGX — and delivers a maximum drill diameter of 2.25 inches (2-1/4 inches) with a maximum drill depth of 4.5 inches at a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 1.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank suits a wide range of machine tool spindles, and through-spindle coolant delivery is supported for improved chip evacuation and tool life in production drilling applications. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC machine operators.
The 03080779 is suited for horizontal and vertical machining center applications requiring large-diameter spot drilling or through-hole drilling in a single pass. The PerfoMAX platform is engineered for general-purpose drilling in steel and similar materials. The modular connection size is R7, and the neck diameter measures 2.337 inches, providing clearance geometry appropriate for the stated diameter range. Coolant-through capability makes this drill a practical choice for deeper-hole applications and automated cell environments where chip control is critical.
Compatible with SECO drill style SD522. Accepts SCGX and SPGX indexable insert styles in size codes 150512 and 1904, including insert designation SPGX1904. Intended for use in machining centers and drilling machines with spindles that accept a 1.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank and R7 modular connection tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the drill body. Verify insert seating and torque set screws according to the machine tool manufacturer and insert supplier specifications before operation. Confirm coolant-through lines are clear and delivering adequate flow before initiating the first drilling cycle.
