The SECO 03080748 is an indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose hole-making in metal and similar materials. Built on the SD522 series platform, it accepts two indexable inserts in SPGX or SCGX styles, sizes 12T3 and 120408. The drill body is steel construction with a 1.5-inch Weldon Flat and Flange shank for secure toolholder engagement. Maximum drill diameter is 1.665 inches (42.28 mm), and the drill delivers a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio with a maximum drill depth of 3.25 inches. Axial concentric coolant entry supports through-coolant delivery to extend insert life and improve chip evacuation in production environments.
This drill is suited for CNC machining centers and turning centers where indexable tooling is preferred over brazed or solid-carbide drills. Typical applications include production drilling of through holes and blind holes in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. The 2xD ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth bore applications where rigidity and insert life are priorities. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. Shop machinists, CNC programmers, and toolroom technicians select this drill for high-volume or repeat-cycle drilling operations.
Compatible with SPGX12T3 and SCGX120408 indexable insert styles. Insert lock screws C03508-T15P and C05012-T15P are specified for this body. Designed for use in SD522-series toolholder systems with a 1.5-inch straight shank featuring Weldon Flat and Flange interface.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians following standard CNC tooling setup procedures. Secure the shank fully in a compatible Weldon-style holder and verify clamp screw engagement against the flat before running. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts or seating the drill body. Do not exceed the rated maximum drill depth of 3.25 inches, and confirm through-coolant pressure is within the machine tool specification before engaging the cycle.
