The SECO 03080743 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts two indexable inserts — compatible styles include SCGX and SPGX — allowing worn cutting edges to be swapped out at the machine without regrinding the body. The drill body is manufactured from steel with a 1-1/2 inch diameter, a maximum drill depth of 3 inches, and a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Coolant-through capability is built in, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in demanding production environments. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators working on manual or CNC drilling equipment.
The 03080743 is suited for general-purpose drilling in production machine shops, tool rooms, and manufacturing facilities running ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard tool holders or chucks that accept a 1-1/2 inch shank. The right-hand cutting direction and 2xD geometry make it a practical choice for through-hole and blind-hole operations where cycle time and insert economy are priorities. The modular connection size is R7, and the drill style is SD522.
Compatible with drill style SD522 and indexable inserts in the SCGX and SPGX styles, with compatible insert size codes 11T308 and 12T3, including SPGX12T3 geometry inserts. Modular connection size is R7.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with indexable tooling systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the drill body or swapping inserts. Verify that the tool holder bore matches the 1-1/2 inch straight shank diameter and that the coolant-through passages are clear and properly connected before initiating a cut. Follow the insert manufacturer torque specifications for insert screws and confirm cutting direction matches spindle rotation before powering the machine.
