The SECO 03080720 is a 2xD indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling operations in metal cutting and machining applications. It accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 45.97mm (1.810 inches) with a nominal cutting diameter of 23.01mm (0.906 inches). The drill body is constructed from steel and features a 1-inch Weldon Flat and Flange straight shank for secure tool holding. Coolant delivery is handled through an axial concentric entry, supporting through-coolant capability to aid chip evacuation and extend insert life. This tool is typically installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments.
The 03080720 is suited for drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where moderate depth-to-diameter ratios are required. With a 2xD depth ratio, it handles depths up to approximately twice the cutting diameter, making it practical for a wide range of through-hole and blind-hole applications. The SD522 series drill body works with standard machine tool spindles accepting a 1-inch straight shank with Weldon Flat and Flange configuration. This tool is applied on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and drill presses capable of coolant delivery.
Compatible with SD522 series drill style. Accepts SPGX0703 and SCGX070308 indexable inserts. Insert lock screws C02507-T08P and C03007-T08P are compatible. Insert size code 0703 and 070308 apply.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before mounting or removing the drill body. Verify insert seating and screw torque per the insert manufacturer's tooling guidelines before initiating a cut. Through-coolant lines should be confirmed clear and at adequate pressure before running the drill at full depth.
