The SECO 03080589 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. It accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill diameter of 2 inches (51.80 mm) with a maximum drill depth of 6 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 1-1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual drill setups. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in higher-feed drilling operations. The body is constructed of steel.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where indexable tooling replaces solid carbide drills for cost efficiency and insert replaceability. Typical applications include drilling through steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpieces in both horizontal and vertical machining center configurations. The PerfoMAX platform is built for general-purpose drilling where consistent hole quality and repeatable depth control are required. The modular connection size is R7-C, and the tool takes SCGX and SPGX insert styles in size codes 1504 and 150512.
Compatible with Drill Style SD523. Accepts SCGX and SPGX indexable inserts in size codes 1504 and 150512. Modular connection size R7-C.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling setup technicians on CNC or manual machining equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or changing inserts. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque recommendations for insert screws using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Verify coolant-through passages are clear before operation to prevent heat buildup and premature insert wear.
