The SECO 03080516 is a 3xD indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling operations in metal-cutting applications. Built on the SD523 platform, this drill accepts two indexable inserts in SPGX or SCGX style, allowing fast insert changes without removing the body from the machine. The drill has a nominal diameter of 24.99mm, a maximum drill depth of 74.93mm, and features axial concentric coolant entry to direct cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone. The shank is a 1-1/4 inch Weldon Flat with Flange configuration, providing positive drive and repeatable positioning in standard toolholders. The steel body is engineered for stability at the 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio.
This indexable drill is suited for use in CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and drill presses capable of accepting a 1-1/4 inch straight shank. It is intended for right-hand cutting in general-purpose drilling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production CNC operators working in job shop and production environments are the primary installers and users. It is not recommended for use beyond the stated 74.93mm maximum drill depth without re-evaluation of setup rigidity.
Compatible with SD523 drill style toolholders. Accepts SPGX0703 and SCGX070308 indexable inserts secured with insert lock screws C02507-T08P or C03007-T08P. Designed for use in machines accepting a 1-1/4 inch straight shank with Weldon Flat and Flange interface.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy is locked out before mounting or removing the drill body or inserts. Verify that insert seating pockets are clean and free of chips before indexing or replacing inserts to prevent seating errors that can affect hole accuracy. Confirm coolant supply lines are connected and functional before initiating cuts to protect insert life and maintain chip evacuation.
