The SECO 03080505 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, designed for general-purpose drilling in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 62.99 mm at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The drill body measures 21.01 mm in diameter with a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard CNC and conventional drill press spindles. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during extended cuts. The tool body is constructed from steel and uses a Modular Connection Size of R7 for secure toolholder engagement.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality and repeatable insert positioning are required. It is typically used in horizontal and vertical machining centers as well as CNC lathes configured for driven tooling. The PerfoMAX platform is built for general-purpose drilling in a range of workpiece materials where SCGX and SPGX insert grades are appropriate. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling technician handles setup and insert indexing. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard tool holders without adapter sleeves when the 1-inch bore is available.
Compatible with Drill Style SD523. Accepts SCGX and SPGX indexable inserts in size codes 0602 and 060204. Designed for use with R7 modular connection toolholders. No additional specific machine model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation and insert indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Disable spindle power and engage machine lockout before changing inserts or mounting the drill body. Use calibrated torque drivers for insert screws and confirm seating before resuming cuts. Follow the machine tool builder guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool length offsets and coolant-through pressure.
