The SECO 03080493 is a PerfoMAX series indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose hole-making in metal and similar materials. The body is constructed from steel and accepts two indexable inserts in compatible styles SCGX and SPGX, size codes 0502 and 050204. The drill has a nominal diameter of 17.45 mm (0.6870 inches) and a maximum drill depth of 51.56 mm, representing a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management at the cutting zone. A right-hand cutting direction and straight cylindrical shank make this tool compatible with standard milling machine and machining center spindles used by tool and die, production machining, and maintenance shops.
This indexable drill is suited for drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials on CNC machining centers, mills, and lathes with live tooling. The 1-inch straight shank allows direct mounting in collet chucks, end mill holders, or hydraulic toolholders with a 1-inch bore. Typical applications include production hole drilling where insert indexing saves time versus solid carbide or HSS alternatives. The PerfoMAX platform is a modular system using the R7 modular connection size, which allows body reuse across insert changes.

This tool is installed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before mounting, confirm the toolholder bore matches the 1-inch shank diameter and that the holder is rated for the intended cutting speeds and feed rates. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or indexing inserts. Torque insert screws only with the correct Torx or hex key supplied with the insert system; do not overtighten. Verify coolant-through passages are clear before running the program.
