The SECO 03080486 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, engineered for general-purpose drilling in metal cutting applications. The drill body accepts two indexable inserts — compatible with SCGX and SPGX styles in size codes 0502 and 050204 — and delivers a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio with a maximum drill depth of 45.21mm. The 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank seats into standard toolholders, and the through-coolant capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in production environments. The body is constructed from steel and connects via a Modular Connection Size R7 interface. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers of this drill body.
This drill is suited for drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a 15.09mm (0.5940 inch) hole diameter and up to 45.21mm depth are required. It fits machining centers and CNC lathes equipped with a 1-inch straight-cylindrical tool holding interface. The PerfoMAX series is designed for high-productivity drilling cycles where insert indexability reduces downtime. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. The maximum drill diameter with compatible inserts reaches 15.73mm.
Compatible with Drill Style SD523 and indexable inserts in SCGX and SPGX styles, size codes 0502 and 050204. Designed for use in toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank with R7 modular connection. Insert compatibility code SPGX0502 applies.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before mounting or changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Verify that the toolholder bore matches the 1-inch shank diameter and that the through-coolant circuit is clear before engaging coolant flow. Use calibrated torque tools when seating insert screws, following the insert manufacturer's documented procedure for the SCGX or SPGX insert style in use.
