The SECO 03080302 is an indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. It accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 4 inches at a 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The body is constructed of steel and features a straight cylindrical shank with a 1.25-inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and toolholders of that bore size. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This drill body is suited for use in CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and manual drilling setups where indexable insert tooling is preferred over solid carbide or brazed-tip drills. The 1-inch cutting diameter and 4xD ratio make it appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. Compatible insert styles are SCGX and SPGX in size codes 0703 and 070308, allowing the operator to select insert grade based on workpiece material.
Compatible with drill style SD524. Accepts SCGX and SPGX indexable inserts in size codes 0703 and 070308. Modular connection size R7. Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool magazine or turret is in a safe indexed position before mounting or removing the drill body. Verify insert seating and screw torque according to the insert manufacturer's tooling guidelines before initiating a cut. Coolant-through connections should be confirmed leak-free before operation to maintain proper chip evacuation.
