The SECO 03080285 is an indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and machining operations. Built on the SD524 series platform, it accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 2.75 inches at a 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The body is constructed from steel and measures 17.45 mm (0.6870 inches) in nominal drill diameter, with a maximum drill diameter of 18.37 mm (0.6870 inches). The 1-inch Weldon flat and flange shank provides secure tool holding in standard milling and drilling setups. Coolant is delivered through an axial concentric entry port, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in through-coolant-capable machines.
This drill is suited for general-purpose drilling applications in CNC machining centers and drill presses where indexable tooling is preferred over solid carbide or brazed designs. The SD524 series configuration accepts SPGX0502 and SCGX050204 insert styles, giving machinists flexibility in insert grade and geometry selection for different workpiece materials. It is a standard production tool for job shops, machine shops, and manufacturing operations requiring repeatable, cost-effective hole-making.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Torque the insert lock screw using the appropriate Torx driver to the tool manufacturer specifications provided in the SECO tooling catalog. Verify shank seating and Weldon flat engagement before resuming cuts. Confirm coolant port alignment when installing into through-coolant spindles to ensure proper flow.
