The SECO 03080281 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. It accepts two indexable inserts and produces a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch decimal) bored hole to a maximum drill depth of 2.5 inches, representing a 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 1 inch straight-cylindrical shank mounts in standard toolholders and is machined from steel for rigidity under cutting loads. Coolant-through capability is built in, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in continuous drilling operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
The 03080281 is suited for general-purpose drilling operations on machining centers, CNC lathes, and manual mills where a short, rigid indexable drill is required. The PerfoMAX platform is built for production environments where insert changeability reduces downtime. Compatible insert styles SCGX and SPGX in size codes 0502 and 050204 (including SPGX0502 geometry) make insert sourcing straightforward. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. The coolant-through design makes it well matched to applications where heat and chip management are priorities in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Compatible with insert styles SCGX and SPGX in size codes 0502 and 050204, including the SPGX0502 geometry. Designed for use with SECO PerfoMAX drill style SD524 toolholders and compatible modular connection size R7 systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the drill body from the toolholder. Torque insert screws using the manufacturer-specified insert key — do not over-tighten or substitute hardware. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is set per machine specifications before beginning a drilling cycle.
