The SECO 03079591 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built on the SD525 drill style platform, it accepts two SPGX0903 indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 145mm at a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 29mm nominal drill diameter and 32mm straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard toolholders found on CNC machining centers and manual lathes. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and insert life at higher feed rates. The tool body is steel construction with a 42mm collar diameter and a 150mm flute length.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where repeatable hole quality and fast insert changeover matter. The PerfoMAX platform is commonly used in general metalworking, mold and die, and structural component machining. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, or shrink-fit holders without an intermediate adapter, reducing runout and simplifying setup.
Designed for use with SD525 drill style inserts; compatible insert designation is SPGX0903. Straight-cylindrical 32mm shank fits standard ISO and inch-bore toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and turning centers.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state. Verify holder bore size matches the 32mm shank diameter before mounting, and torque clamping screws to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect insert seats and clamping screws for damage before each insert change. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is within the machining center specification before running at full parameters.
