The SECO 03064489 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for demanding metal removal operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting speeds. The 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation suits boring, facing, and turning operations. The insert measures 0.7598 inches in length with a 3/4 inch inscribed circle, 1/4 inch thickness, and a 3/64 inch corner radius. It features 4 cutting edges and a chamfered and honed edge prep for controlled entry and reduced chipping. It is held by clamp, pin, or lever lock toolholders.
This insert is intended for machining cast iron as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for steel and stainless steel. The M5 chip breaker geometry handles medium-duty cuts in both roughing and finishing transition ranges. The negative rake and zero-degree relief angle make it appropriate for rigid setups where cutting forces are well-supported. Applications include OD turning, facing, and boring passes on production or job-shop lathes in industrial manufacturing environments. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO designation CNMG190612-M5, making it cross-referenceable with toolholders spec'd to that designation.
Designed for use in CNMG-style indexable toolholders that accept a 3/4 inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.3118 inch hole diameter and clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO K); secondary materials include steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M). Material grades K10, K20, and K30 apply.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tool-setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener for the toolholder clamping system to avoid insert cracking or seat damage. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge.
