The SECO 03064486 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert engineered for demanding metal-cutting operations. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr multilayer Duratomic coating, this insert delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a rigid cutting geometry suited to roughing and medium machining passes. With a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, a 0.6339-inch length, and a 1/4-inch thickness, the insert seats in standard CNMG toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling production turning cycles will find this insert well-suited to high-volume material removal.
This insert is designed for boring, facing, and turning applications on cast iron, steel, and stainless steel. The M5 chip breaker geometry targets roughing and medium machining operations where chip control across a wide feed and depth-of-cut range is required. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry maximizes edge strength, making it appropriate for heavy interrupted or continuous cuts on ferrous workpiece materials. The insert carries four usable cutting edges per unit, improving cost-per-edge efficiency in production environments.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement and production-use insert for standard CNMG toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 1/4-inch thickness and lever-lock, clamp, or pin holding. Conforms to ANSI size code 542 and ISO size code 160608.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screws to seat the insert; do not over-torque the clamping mechanism.
