The SECO 03064398 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMA series, designed for high-performance material removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. This triangular insert carries the industry-standard designation TNMA432 and is manufactured to the TK0501 grade with a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr layers. The coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, a neutral hand orientation, and six available cutting edges, this insert delivers consistent tool life across roughing and finishing passes. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is rated primarily for cast iron and secondarily for hard materials, making it a practical choice for machining gray iron, ductile iron, and similar ferrous workpieces. Its flat-top chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style suit operations including turning, facing, boring, and back turning. The negative rake angle and zero-degree clearance are typical of mechanically clamped insert tooling used in production environments where rigidity and edge security are priorities. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of five pieces per transaction.
Designed for use in TNMA-series toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter. Compatible with clamp, pin, and lever-lock clamping systems. Suitable for material grades K05, K10, and K15 per ISO classification.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing an insert, shut down the spindle completely and allow the cutting zone to cool. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp hardware for the toolholder style in use — do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for debris or wear before seating the new insert, as pocket condition directly affects edge runout and tool life.
