The SECO 03064016 is a CNMG543-MR7 series indexable turning insert in grade TK1501, manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a T-Land cutting edge style with a negative rake angle and 0-degree relief angle. It carries four usable cutting edges and is held via clamp, pin, or lever lock toolholders. The MR7 chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium roughing operations in cast iron, steel, and stainless steel applications. Dimensionally, the insert measures 0.6339 decimal inches in length with a 5/8-inch inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch corner radius.
This insert is suited for general-purpose CNC lathe and turning center operations including boring, facing, and external turning. Its primary workpiece material classification is cast iron (ISO K), with secondary suitability for steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M). The MR7 chip breaker geometry and Duratomic CVD coating make it a practical choice for medium-depth interrupted and continuous cuts in production machining environments. The 4-edge configuration provides cost-effective indexing in high-volume turning operations. Material grades K10, K20, and K30 define the applicable carbide classification range for this insert.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket walls and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or damage before seating a new cutting edge.
