It carries a 55-degree diamond shape (insert shape code D), a neutral hand orientation, and four usable cutting edges. The insert measures 1.2204 inches in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0472 inches (3/64 inches), and a thickness of 0.1874 inches (3/16 inches). The chamfered and honed cutting edge style and negative rake geometry suit high-engagement roughing and semi-finishing operations on cast iron, steel, and stainless steel.
This insert is suited for lathe and turning center applications in both production and job-shop environments. It is designed for back turning, boring, facing, and general turning operations. Primary target workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material code K), with secondary suitability for steel (P) and stainless steel (M). Indexable turning inserts are installed and replaced by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or indexing any insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw or lever to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the pocket and shim for chips or debris before each index to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
