The SECO 03062792 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG-M3 series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — that delivers high wear resistance across a broad range of cutting conditions. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and four usable cutting edges. With the M3 chip breaker geometry, it handles both finishing and medium machining passes. Machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for demanding applications where tool life and surface finish consistency are critical.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. The Duratomic coating classification positions it for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness applications in P, M, and K material categories. Installation is performed by machining personnel or CNC toolroom technicians following standard insert-indexing procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new edge.
