The SECO 03062791 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG-M3 series, designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry-standard code DNMG431-M3 (ISO: DNMG150404-M3) and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for high wear resistance. The 55-degree diamond (D-shape) geometry with a negative rake and neutral hand provides four usable cutting edges per insert. An inscribed circle of 0.5 inches and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches (1/64 inch) make it well suited for finishing and medium machining passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments will find this insert in high-volume steel and cast iron applications.
This insert targets external and internal turning operations including facing, boring, back turning, and standard OD turning. Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine fully stopped and in a locked-out, de-energized state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a contaminated pocket will cause premature edge failure. Use the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque procedure for DNMG lever lock, pin, or clamp-style holders. Verify insert orientation and hand designation against the toolholder spec sheet before engaging the first cut.
