The SECO 03062761 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the CCMT53.52-M3 industry standard designation and is manufactured to ANSI and ISO specifications. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which extends tool life and resists heat buildup during interrupted and continuous cuts. The M3 chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting with a chamfered and honed edge, helping to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces. With a 5/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius, this insert is well suited for medium to heavy turning passes in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This insert is engineered primarily for cast iron (ISO material group K) and is also rated for steel and stainless steel (ISO groups P and M). Typical applications include boring, facing, and turning operations. The M3 chip breaker makes it practical for a range of depths of cut up to approximately 0.6024 inches, covering both finishing and light roughing passes. The screw-holding method provides secure, repeatable indexing on compatible toolholders. The insert is neutral-handed, allowing use in right- or left-hand toolholder configurations.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.2205 inch hole diameter. Rated for ISO material groups K (cast iron), P (steel), and M (stainless steel) per the manufacturer grade TK1501 specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide or stripping the seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge height repeatability.
