The SECO 03046278 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard materials. Part of the SD205A series, it features a 15.40 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree point angle optimized for fast penetration and accurate self-centering, and a TiAlN coating that extends tool life under high heat and cutting pressure. With a two-flute spiral design and a regular spiral type, the bit evacuates chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. It is suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling applications where precision and tool longevity are required.
This drill bit is built for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where rigid setups and controlled feed rates are maintained. Its straight-cylindrical shank measures 16.00 mm in diameter and 48.00 mm in length, fitting standard toolholding chucks and collet systems. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and H. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 63.00 mm. No coolant-through capability is present, so external flood or mist coolant is recommended when drilling hard or abrasive materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection within the SECO SD205A series. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials as classified under ISO codes P, M, K, and H.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder and verify runout before beginning any cut. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all motion is arrested before inserting or removing the drill bit. Apply external coolant or cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, or hard materials to manage heat buildup and extend tool life.
