The SECO 03046228 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Carrying a 140-degree split point and a TiAlN coating, it cuts through steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials with reduced heat buildup and extended tool life. The bit measures 27/64 inch (0.4216 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 4.6492 inches and a two-flute spiral configuration. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.4728 inches diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and toolholders. Part of the SD205A series, it is rated for a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio and conforms to ANSI standards.
This drill bit is suited for production machining and job-shop applications where consistent hole quality in ferrous and hard materials is required. Typical applications include drilling operations on steel plate, stainless steel fabrications, cast iron components, and similarly hard workpieces. The right-hand spiral flute promotes efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. The 140-degree point geometry reduces thrust and walking at the entry point, making it appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where repeatability matters.
Designed for use in drilling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). Compatible with standard drill chucks and toolholders accepting a 0.4728-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Coolant-through is not supported on this model.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or toolholder before operation and verify runout within acceptable limits for the application. Always bring the spindle to a complete stop before changing tooling or measuring workpieces.
