The SECO 03046173 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard materials. It features a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating and a 140-degree point angle optimized for fast chip formation and reduced thrust in tough workpiece materials. The drill measures 5.60 mm in diameter with an overall length of 82.00 mm and a flute length of 44.00 mm. The straight-cylindrical shank has a diameter of 6.00 mm, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems. This tool belongs to SECO's SD205A series and is built to ANSI standards.
This drill is intended for use in machining operations involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials classified under ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where consistent hole quality and tool life in demanding materials are required. With a 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 35.00 mm, it handles standard jobber-depth holes in production and job-shop environments. No coolant-through capability is present, so adequate external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling hard materials.
Designed for use with standard drill chucks, ER collets, and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials in CNC and conventional drilling setups within the SD205A series application range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify proper runout after installation using a dial indicator before beginning production cuts. Apply appropriate external cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or hard materials, as this drill does not have coolant-through capability.
