The SECO 03007642 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with an overall length of 2.5 inches. Six spiral flutes with a 38-degree helix angle and a variable index geometry improve chip evacuation and reduce chatter during aggressive cuts. The AlTiN coating adds thermal resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in ferrous and high-temp alloy applications. This tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
The SECO 03007642 is suited for peripheral and slot milling operations in ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless, and similar materials where heat generation and tool wear are primary concerns. The single-end, right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration make it compatible with standard vertical and horizontal CNC milling setups. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the toughness and edge retention needed for high-speed finishing and semi-finishing passes. It carries the Series S638 designation within the SECO solid carbide end mill line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling addition for CNC milling machines and manual mills accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with ER, side-lock, or shrink-fit collet systems. Part of the SECO Series S638 solid carbide end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or powered-down state before changing tooling. Verify collet size and runout tolerance before torquing the tool holder to the spindle per the machine manufacturer specification. Do not exceed the tool overhang length beyond what is needed for the operation, as excess overhang reduces rigidity and accelerates wear.
