The SECO 02984742 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations in demanding machining environments. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, it carries the industry designation DCMT32.52-F1 (ISO: DCMT11T308-F1) and is coated with a multilayer TiAlSiN PVD coating under the TH1000 grade. This grade targets high wear resistance in superalloy, titanium, and hardened material applications. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, F1 chip breaker geometry, and sharp cutting edge style make it well-suited for finishing passes where tight tolerances and clean surface finishes are the priority. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician installs this insert in compatible DCMT-style screw-clamped turning toolholders.
This insert is intended for use in CNC lathes and turning centers performing finishing, facing, boring, and back-turning operations. Its primary workpiece material targets are superalloys, titanium, and hardened steels — material groups classified as S and H in ISO material coding. The positive rake geometry and positive side clearance reduce cutting forces on difficult-to-machine alloys. The F1 chip breaker is optimized for light finishing depths, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.4252 inches. Each package contains one insert and is subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in screw-clamped DCMT-style turning toolholders configured for DCMT32.52 (ISO DCMT11T308) inserts. Suitable for back turning, boring, facing, and turning applications on superalloys, titanium, and hardened materials.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or indexing the insert. Do not exceed the insert's maximum depth of cut or apply interrupted cutting loads beyond the chip breaker's designed range for finishing geometry. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris before clamping to ensure proper insert support and dimensional accuracy.
