The SECO 02968212 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the X4 series with insert style X4GKL, this double-ended insert features a TiAlSiN coating applied via PVD process, delivering elevated heat resistance and extended edge life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The left-hand orientation, 0.5 mm cutting width, and maximum depth of cut of 2.6 mm suit tight-clearance grooving profiles where dimensional accuracy is critical. The TGH1050 grade and positive 6-degree rake angle help control chip formation and reduce cutting forces during interrupted or continuous groove passes.
This insert is suited for universal application across ferrous, non-ferrous, hardened, and superalloy workpiece materials, as indicated by workpiece material codes H, K, O, and S. It fits grooving toolholders compatible with the X4 insert system and is appropriate for production turning environments in both job-shop and high-volume manufacturing settings. The FG chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in shallow-to-medium depth grooves. Machinists and CNC operators performing tight-tolerance grooving work will find the double-end configuration extends usable insert life per unit.
Designed for use with X4 series grooving toolholders and systems that accept X4GKL-style inserts with insert size code 25030050050, conforming to ISO standards.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Confirm the toolholder pocket is clean and free of debris before seating the insert, and verify clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before any insert change. Do not force the insert into the pocket or use the cutting edge as a prying surface, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to chipping under bending loads.
