The SECO 02960910 is a DCMT-style indexable turning insert engineered for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning operations. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cutting conditions. The 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style suits finish to semi-finish turning passes. With two cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it provides consistent, repeatable performance for licensed machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is designed for primary use on steel (ISO material code P, grades P10 and P20), with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials (ISO codes K and H). The M3 chip breaker geometry supports back turning, boring, facing, and general turning applications. It fits standard DCMT insert pockets and is well-suited for medium-depth cuts in both production turning centers and manual engine lathes where consistent chip control on ferrous workpiece materials is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for DCMT-style toolholders with a screw-clamp holding method. Industry standard number DCMT32.51-M3 and ISO code DCMT11T304-M3 define pocket compatibility. Consult your toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm insert pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid insert cracking or pocket damage — do not over-tighten by feel alone; follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
