The SECO 02960892 is a VBMT332-F1 series indexable turning insert designed for high-precision finishing operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — which delivers high wear resistance across a range of cutting conditions. The 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a sharp, positive cutting geometry with a 5-degree relief angle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With four usable cutting edges per insert, this grade TP1501 tool is suited for P10 and P20 steel applications as well as K-grade cast iron work. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers install these inserts in compatible VBMT-style toolholders.
This insert is sized with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, an insert thickness of 3/16 inch, and an insert length of approximately 1.3078 inches. The F1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, making it appropriate for final-pass operations requiring tight dimensional tolerances and fine surface finishes. Suitable applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general OD turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron (K), with secondary suitability for hard materials (H). The screw-holding method and positive rake geometry are consistent with standard VBMT-style external turning toolholders.

Install and replace indexable inserts with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque driver or wrench for the insert-clamping screw to avoid seat damage. Handle carbide inserts with care to prevent chipping of cutting edges prior to use. Dispose of worn inserts per applicable shop safety and waste-material procedures.
