The SECO 02960890 is a DCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr), it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of ferrous workpiece materials. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and two cutting edges per insert. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge with positive rake, reducing cutting forces during finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It is rated for ISO material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, making it a practical choice for general-purpose external and internal turning work in both production and jobshop environments. The screw-lock holding method provides secure seating in compatible DCMT toolholders. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards and carries the industry standard number DCMT32.52-F1 (ISO code DCMT11T308-F1).
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-lock toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Suitable for ISO material grade classifications P10, P20, P30, and P35.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and zero out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the screw clamp to the toolholder manufacturers specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can chip the cutting edge or damage the insert pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh edge.
