The SECO 02960881 is a VBMT-style solid carbide turning insert engineered for precision metal removal in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering extended tool life and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a sharp cutting edge style with a positive rake geometry. Two cutting edges are available per insert. It is installed using a screw-type holding method and is suited for continuous and light interrupted cuts.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, back turning, and profiling operations. Its primary target workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and K. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are supported. The F1 chip breaker geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation at moderate feed rates typical in general-purpose turning. This insert is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use in VBMT-style insert toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO seating standards. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces at material grades P10 through P35.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
