The SECO 02960871 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT-F1 series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry-standard designation VBMT21.50.5-F1 and is manufactured to ANSI and ISO tolerances. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a 5-degree relief angle, and a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. With manufacturer grade TP2501 and an F1 chip breaker geometry, it is suited for productive metal removal on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Two cutting edges and a screw holding method make it a reliable choice for production turning environments.

This insert is intended for use in back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning applications. It is optimized for steel as the primary workpiece material and is also rated for use on stainless steel and cast iron. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand toolholders. Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, and never mix cutting edges of different wear states in the same pocket.
