Product Description

The SECO 02960869 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the DCMT series, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance. The TP2501 grade carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0079-inch corner radius, it is engineered for finishing operations requiring sharp, precise cutting edges.

This insert is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both production and job-shop environments. Its F1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, and its neutral hand configuration supports back turning, boring, facing, and standard turning operations. The Duratomic coating grades TP2501 into material categories P10, P20, P30, and P35, covering a spectrum from high wear-resistance applications in steel to moderate wear-resistance work in stainless steel and cast iron. It is a screw-held, multi-tipped insert with 2 usable cutting edges per insert.

Key Features

  • CVD Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, Cr) for extended tool life on steel and stainless steel
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake for reduced cutting forces during finishing
  • F1 chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing operations
  • 2 cutting edges per insert; screw-held mounting for repeatable positioning
  • Neutral hand insert compatible with back turning, boring, facing, and turning
  • Compliant with ANSI insert code DCMT21.50.5 and ISO insert code DCMT070202

Compatibility

Designed for use in DCMT-style insert toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, screw clamping, and a clearance code C tolerance code M designation. Suitable for steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials at material grades P10 through P35.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
