Product Description

The SECO 02960865 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in boring, facing, and turning operations. Manufactured to the CCMT53.52-M3 industry standard, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. The TP2501 grade uses a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, Cr) engineered for high wear resistance across a broad range of material grades. It carries two cutting edges and is held in place by screw clamping. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications are the primary installers.

This insert is suited for both finishing and medium machining passes on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Material grade ratings cover P10, P20, P30, and P35 steel classifications, as well as M-grade stainless steel and K-grade cast iron. The M3 chip breaker geometry supports chip control across these application ranges. Its 0.625-inch inscribed circle and positive rake geometry make it compatible with standard CCMT-style screw-on toolholders used in CNC turning centers and boring operations in production and job-shop environments.

Key Features

  • CVD Duratomic coating (TiCN, Al2O3, Cr) delivers high wear resistance for steel and stainless steel machining
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake and 7-degree relief angle reduces cutting forces
  • M3 chip breaker geometry supports finishing and medium machining operations
  • Two usable cutting edges per insert extend tool life per unit
  • Neutral hand orientation compatible with standard CCMT screw-on toolholders
  • Multi-use application: boring, facing, and turning from a single insert

Compatibility

Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards (ISO code CCMT160508-M3). Suitable for machining steel (P10-P35), stainless steel (M-grade), and cast iron (K-grade) workpieces.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver for the insert clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating each new insert.
