The SECO 02960864 is a CCMT432-M3 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a Duratomic multilayer coating system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr layers. The insert carries grade designation TP2501 and is designed for metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch (0.0315 inch) corner radius, and a 3/16-inch insert thickness. The 7-degree relief angle and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge geometry provide stable cutting action and edge security. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC operators. The insert is screw-held and neutral-handed.
This insert is suited for steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary compatibility for stainless steel and cast iron. The M3 chip breaker geometry and positive rake configuration make it appropriate for general turning, facing, and boring operations across a range of depths of cut up to 0.4764 inches. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO designation CCMT120408-M3. Typical applications include medium to semi-finish turning passes in production and job-shop environments on steel components.

Compatible with toolholders specified for CCMT-style inserts with a 0.2205-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder geometry and insert seat condition before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians with the machine powered off, spindle locked, and all stored energy released per the machine manufacturer lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and torque the clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before seating the new insert. Index to a fresh cutting edge before replacing the insert entirely to maximize tool life.
