The SECO 02960861 is a CCMT-series indexable turning insert designed for precision metal removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. It carries the manufacturer grade TP2501 with a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which supports extended tool life under continuous and interrupted cutting conditions. The insert features a diamond 80-degree shape with a positive rake geometry and a sharp F1 chip breaker configuration. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is suited for finishing to medium roughing passes on CNC lathes and turning centers. CNC machinists and toolroom operators handle installation and indexing.
This insert is intended for boring, facing, and turning operations on steel (ISO material code P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpieces. It is rated across material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, making it applicable to a wide range of ferrous stock conditions from light finishing cuts to moderate stock removal. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard CCMT toolholders without directional restrictions. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in CCMT-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with screw clamping. Compatible with CNC lathes and manual turning centers set up for CCMT geometry tooling. Verify holder clearance code C and tolerance code M before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures followed. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer torque specification when seating the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.3504 inches as stated in the manufacturer specifications.
