The SECO 02960859 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting operations in CNC and manual turning applications. Identified by industry standard number CCMT21.52-F1 and manufactured to the TP2501 grade, this insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr) for extended tool life and thermal resistance. The diamond 80-degree insert shape provides a rigid cutting geometry, while the F1 chip breaker promotes positive rake cutting with sharp edge performance. Intended for installation by machinists and toolroom professionals on lathes and turning centers, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes in high-volume production environments.
This insert is rated primarily for steel (ISO material code P, grades P10 through P35) and is secondarily suited for stainless steel and cast iron (ISO codes M and K). Multi-use applications include boring, facing, and turning. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation, it fits standard CCMT-compatible toolholders using screw clamping. The insert thickness is 3/32 inch and the maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2205 inches. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with ISO code CCMT060208-F1.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT060208 specifications. Compatible toolholders must accept a 1/4-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1142-inch hole diameter and screw-type clamping.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to engage the clamping screw to manufacturer-specified procedures without over-torquing the carbide seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before installing a new insert.
