The SECO 02960857 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It features a diamond 80-degree insert shape with a positive rake geometry and a sharp F1 chip breaker, making it well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations. The insert is manufactured from carbide and carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and heat resistance. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert delivers consistent dimensional performance across steel and stainless steel workpieces. Installation requires a screw-style insert holding method with four available cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for use in boring, facing, and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in production machining environments. It is optimized for primary use on steel (ISO material code P) and is also rated for secondary use on stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are covered. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard CCMT toolholders. This insert is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use with standard CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle insert. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code CCMT060204-F1, industry standard number CCMT21.51-F1. Compatible with toolholders specifying CCMT insert geometry with C clearance and M tolerance codes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct screw and torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new cutting edge.
