Product Description

The SECO 02960851 is a CCMT-series indexable turning insert engineered for precision metal removal in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the ISO designation CCMT060204-M3 and industry standard number CCMT21.51-M3. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 1/64-inch (0.0157 inch) corner radius. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — it targets steel as its primary workpiece material. The M3 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge deliver controlled chip formation across finishing and semi-finishing passes.

This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on steel, cast iron, and hard materials in both production shop and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders depending on setup. With two usable cutting edges per insert and a screw-style holding method, it is a cost-effective consumable for licensed machinists and CNC operators running material grades P10, P20, K, and H classifications. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, making it interchangeable across metric and inch tooling systems.

Key Features

  • 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) with 7-degree clearance relief angle
  • CVD Duratomic multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life on steel and cast iron
  • M3 chip breaker geometry optimized for boring, facing, and turning applications
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge for stable entry and reduced chipping risk
  • Two cutting edges per insert; screw-mount holding method for rigid, repeatable positioning
  • Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code CCMT060204-M3

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CCMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 3/32-inch thick diamond insert. Suitable for toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT insert pocket specifications.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screw to seat the insert fully in the pocket — an improperly seated insert can fracture under cutting load. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
