The SECO 02960847 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry standard designation CCMT32.50.5-F1 (ISO: CCMT09T302-F1) and is manufactured in solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — in the TP2501 grade. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 7-degree relief angle, and a positive rake geometry with a sharp cutting edge. The F1 chip breaker is optimized for light-to-medium finishing passes. Two cutting edges per insert. Screw-lock holding method. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations in job shop and production environments. The TP2501 grade with Duratomic coating targets steel (ISO P10, P20, P30, P35), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. The positive rake and sharp edge geometry make it effective for finishing and semi-finishing cuts where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. Neutral hand orientation allows use in a wide range of standard CCMT toolholders. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 10 pieces.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-lock toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Neutral hand orientation fits standard right- and left-hand CCMT pocket toolholders per ANSI and ISO toolholder specifications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician on a powered-down or E-stopped CNC lathe or turning center. Seat the insert fully into the CCMT pocket and secure the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturers specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Never exceed the maximum depth of cut for the insert geometry, and index or replace the insert at the first sign of chipping or abnormal wear.
