Product Description

The SECO 02960844 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in steel and cast iron applications. It carries the industry standard number CCMT32.51-F1 and manufacturer grade TP1501, with a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a 7-degree relief angle. It is a neutral-hand, multi-tipped insert with a sharp cutting edge and F1 chip breaker geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for demanding finishing and medium roughing passes.

This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The positive rake geometry and F1 chip breaker are optimized for steel workpieces in the P10 and P20 material grade range, with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard material groups K and H. It is commonly mounted in screw-lock toolholders sized for CCMT-family inserts and is appropriate for both production CNC lathes and manual turning centers in industrial and job-shop environments.

Key Features

  • Duratomic CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for wear and heat resistance
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with 7-degree clearance and positive rake
  • F1 chip breaker geometry for controlled chip formation in steel and cast iron
  • Sharp cutting edge style supports clean finishes and tight tolerances
  • 2 cutting edges per insert with screw-type insert holding method
  • Multi-use application: boring, facing, and turning in a single insert geometry

Compatibility

Designed for screw-lock CCMT-style toolholders accepting inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code CCMT09T304-F1. Primary workpiece material is steel (P10, P20); secondary materials are cast iron and hard material (K, H groups).

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver for the insert screw to avoid cracking the carbide body or stripping the toolholder pocket. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert.
