The SECO 02960843 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, making it suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It provides two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel-category workpieces, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. It fits standard CCMT-style toolholders using screw clamping and is appropriate for use in production machine shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments. The FF1 chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting and effective chip control at light-to-moderate depths of cut. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under ISO code CCMT060204-FF1, making it interchangeable with other ANSI/ISO CCMT06 tooling systems.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. ISO code CCMT060204-FF1 and industry standard number CCMT21.51-FF1 allow direct cross-reference to compatible toolholder systems. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 indicate suitability for a range of steel cutting conditions.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a standard torx or hex key to seat the insert via the screw-clamp holding method. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of debris before indexing or replacing the insert. Always stop spindle rotation and confirm the machine is in a safe state before handling cutting inserts. Dispose of spent inserts per shop safety protocols, as edges remain sharp after wear.
