The SECO 02960826 is a solid carbide turning insert engineered for precision metal removal in steel and stainless steel applications. It carries the industry standard designation CCMT32.52W-F1 and is manufactured to the TP2501 grade, featuring a multilayer CVD Duratomic coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and thermal resistance. The diamond 80-degree insert shape (shape code C) provides a strong cutting edge geometry with a 7-degree relief angle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The F1 chip breaker and positive rake angle promote efficient chip control during continuous cutting passes. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in turning centers and boring bars.
This insert is suited for steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K) workpiece materials across material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35. Typical applications include external and internal turning, boring, and facing operations on both manual lathes and CNC turning centers. The wiper edge geometry supports improved surface finish at standard feed rates. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a wide range of toolholder configurations. The ISO equivalent designation is CCMT09T308W-F1.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-form turning insert for CCMT-style toolholders accepting a CCMT32.52 (ISO CCMT09T3) insert seat with screw-clamp holding. Compatible toolholders must accommodate a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 5/32-inch insert thickness, and 0.1772-inch hole diameter. Suitable for ISO P, M, and K workpiece materials as noted in the application paragraph above.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine at a full stop and all axes locked. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screws to secure the insert in the toolholder pocket — do not overtighten with standard hex keys alone. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent edge chipping on the first pass.
