The SECO 02960824 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMX-F1 series, designed for external and internal turning operations in production machining environments. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape (Style D), a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during steel and stainless steel cutting. The F1 chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle support sharp, clean cuts at moderate to high material removal rates. Two cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is rated for use on steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K) workpiece materials, with material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 covering a broad range of cutting conditions. Typical applications include back turning, boring, facing, and general external turning on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shop and production environments. The wiper edge geometry improves surface finish at standard feed rates. It is installed by a screw-type insert holding method and suits neutral-hand toolholders.
Designed for use in DCMX-series screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 5/32-inch insert thickness, and a 0.1772-inch hole diameter. ISO code DCMX11T308W-F1. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for insert geometry and tolerances (Tolerance Code M).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to drive the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
