The SECO 02960822 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It features a diamond 80-degree insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a sharp cutting edge style. The TP2501 grade carbide substrate is coated via CVD with a multilayer Duratomic coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering extended tool life and thermal resistance during interrupted and continuous cuts. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert suits finishing and semi-finishing operations where dimensional accuracy matters. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in general metalworking and production environments.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability on stainless steel and cast iron. The F1 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation during moderate to light depth-of-cut passes. The screw-clamping holding method provides positive seating in compatible CCMT-style toolholders. It is applicable in both production and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional repeatability are required across P, M, and K material classifications.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting an insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Complies with ANSI and ISO standards. ISO code CCMT09T304W-F1. Suitable for material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35. Primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece materials are stainless steel and cast iron.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder seat without over-torquing, following the toolholder manufacturer's fastener guidance. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
