The SECO 02960765 is a CNMG432-MF5 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a Duratomic multilayer stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries manufacturer grade TP1501 and features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a negative rake and a neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 0.5000 inches, insert thickness is 0.1874 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches. Each insert provides four cutting edges and is finished with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style for controlled entry into the workpiece. Weighing approximately 0.02 pounds per piece, it is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10.
This insert is designed for steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO material code P, grades P10 and P20), with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials (ISO codes K and H). Typical applications include external turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production shop and job shop environments. The MF5 chip breaker geometry is suited for light to medium depth-of-cut finishing and semi-finishing passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.1063 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking and precision machining environments are the primary installers of this insert.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement insert for toolholders accepting CNMG432 geometry inserts with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Compatible with standard CNMG-style insert pockets per ANSI and ISO toolholder specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators following standard indexable insert procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the insert grade and chip breaker combination.
